On a hot summer day in late 2011 best friends Adrian Valenzuela and Jorge Munoz were sitting on a boat in Hong Kong bearing the Hong Kong heat and humidity while debating what to drink. Tequila, already a favored spirit for both, was preferred due to its health properties in the world of liquor. Already well adopted by Paleo and health fanatics around the globe, it has become the base of much mixing, or the more traditional Mexican sipping. The art of drinking tequila is in the quality of the spirit, and adapting it to each environment so as to not mix with other alcohol. Meanwhile, the growing rave around coconut water and its nutritional value is equally reflective of health-conscious living, making it nature’s way to deliver efficient hydration! It is already freely mixed in Venezuela with Whiskey, and elsewhere with Rum and other spirits… bringing to the minds of these two friends the idea of putting the Mexican spirit with coconut water together in appropriate quantities for a new and refreshing cocktail for long days on the sea and sand. Combining Adrian's name with Jorge's nickname "Topo" the pair came up with "UTOPIAN" as a catchy name for this concoction which has been quickly catching on in Hong Kong and abroad lately. Credit should always be given to the creators of great things so here we pay our respect and give credit where its due. Thank you to Adrian and Jorge for their contribution which we are sure many of us will enjoy for years to come. |
